Project : Cercle Show - Argy at Jungfrau
Location : SphinxObservatory, Switzerland
Mission : Set Design
Client : Cercle
Year : 2024

Design, production and installation of a scenography that plays with light and landscape to crystallise a musical experience in the high mountains.

In March 2024, Douze Degrés signed its first collaboration with Cercle for a live show at an altitude of 3464m. The event was held at the Jungfraujoch, on the Sphinx Observatory: an astronomical observatory with an observation platform offering a panoramic view of the Bernese Alps.

Cercle is a pioneering medium for organising immersive musical experiences around the world. In tune with the Cercle universe, Douze Degrés was asked to design a scenography that would blend subtly into the panorama. The project helps to create a visual atmosphere that evolves over the course of the set and accompanies the sunset.

After seeing the similarities between the posture of cameramen and that of astronomers, we designed this series of objects to highlight the intangible subject of light.

In astronomy, light plays a fundamental role because it is the main source of information that reaches us from the universe.

These versatile structures allow you to play with light and landscape, to crystallise a musical experience in the high mountains.

For this edition, we wanted to work with the Cercle production team to offer them a new playground for cameramen. Drawing on the transparency and distortion offered by the lens, we focused our research and experimentation on giving the cameramen freedom of use.

These versatile structures enabled the director to experiment with new shots to highlight the artist and the location. We designed these objects in such a way as to facilitate their transport to the summit. The rigidity and cold materiality of the structures holding the lenses resonate with the extreme environment that was to host this event.

These fastening systems were designed to cope with very changeable weather conditions, including gusts of wind.

As we had no prior access to the site, we opted for a fastening system requiring light tools and offering great flexibility to adapt to the needs of the director.
